Dio de los Muertos celebrates all those we have lost in the past year, and encourages a carpe diem attitude toward life. Day of the Dead celebrations originated in Native Mexican cultures and are celebrated in many Latin American countries. Over the years, interactions with European colonists have added some aspects to this ancient celebration, most notably a Catholic flavor. Now, many countries celebrate Dio de los Muertos which includes the adornment and adoration of sugar skulls!
