The spoon is just shy of four and a half inches (4 1/2 in.) or eighty-six millimeters (8.6cm) from tip to tip. The spoon badge features the state flower, a beautiful Black Eyed Susan, and the capital of Annapolis marked with a star. According to State Symbols USA:

This nickname is, according to some, a reference to the Maryland soldiers who fought courageously in the Revolutionary War, the Maryland Line. It is said that General George Washington referred to these soldiers as “The Old Line.”

  1. I have to note the coincidence here for me. Just the other day, I was reading a recently purchased book about the state of Maryland, and I finally found out why it has the nickname, Old Line State.

    It is a nice looking spoon above.
