Yesterday, Charles walked in from the workshop with a pendant in his hand. It was a rare 1890s Morgan silver dollar in a stylish mid-century modern bezel. It is one example of how sustainability and historical interest are coalescing in luxury jewelry.
George Thomas Morgan created that image of Lady Liberty with wheat, cotton, and oak woven in her hair. Then Charles crafted a vintage style bezel with recycled materials, and paired it with with a modern chunky chain.
Sustainability might be considered a trend, but Charles and I see it as a better way of doing business. Luckily, coin jewelry is uniquely positioned to meet sustainability demands.
“Collectible coins are the original recycled jewelry,” Charles says. “We’re taking pieces of history, from all over the world, and giving them new life in really nice looking luxury jewelry, all with sustainable practices including ethical sourcing of materials. Not just manufacturing materials, but also shipping materials.”
Coin pendant necklaces combine history and contemporary design to make modern heirlooms. Pendant and Ring has been tracking the increasing interest in history, and how that is making waves in luxury jewelry design.
According to Charles, “Each coin has its own story to tell. Our job is to give these histories a modern voice and to preserve their historical significance.”
Big and bold chain designs, seen at recent award shows and on runways from Milan to New York, are the perfect links for trending coin pendants.
“Our customers layer multiple chains and coin pendants of varying weights, sizes, and materials,” notes Charles.
The mixed-metal trend is great for coin pendant lovers, too. Combining warm gold and cool silver tones highlights the beauty of the historical coins and ads a contemporary twist. A Victorian-era silver shilling cradled in gold-filled finery, or a copper-bronze Byzantine follis accented with silver can really light up a room.
Another significant jewelry trend is the bezel settings. These protective metal rims secure precious stones, or coins and create the clean lines that are so stylish right now.

“Coin bezels are like picture frames,” Charles says, “They protect the artwork of the coin and enhance its beauty without overwhelming it.”
The nature-inspired trend is a perfect partner for coin jewelry. Ancient, antique, and modern coins often feature natural motifs – from laurel wreaths to celestial symbols.
Coin engravers used the Language of Flowers to express sentiments on coins without using words. These coin pendants feel timeless and entirely modern in their sleek bezel settings.
As we move through 2025, collectible coin jewelry is getting more popular. This jewelry is more than just pretty; it is a tangible connection to history wrapped in contemporary design.
Like Charles says, “When someone wears one of our coin pendants, they’re not just wearing jewelry, they’re wearing history.”
In a increasingly digital world there’s something exciting about jewelry that carries centuries of history within it. As Charles inspected the Morgan dollar pendant, the morning light caught its surface.
I saw the highlights in the coin’s age-old patina and its brilliant modern setting. It was a shining example of how collectible coin jewelry bridges the gap between the past and present.
By investing in pieces that tell a story you make a style statement. Collectible coin jewelry is a blend of history, craftsmanship, and contemporary design. It’s more than a trend; it’s a symbol of the past and a celebration of the present.
