Search Tips for eBay and Etsy

On February 1st we will commence with the Valentine’s Day Sale! This year we have a great deal of new and lovely coin pendants on all platforms for you to choose from. As our inventory grows it can be difficult to find exactly what you are looking for. To that end, we prepared a quick list of helpful search tips.

Use these tips and tricks to find what you're looking for en ebay and Etsy.

In the Honored Allies Store, and the Every Magical Day Store on eBay the in-store search bar is after the first row of items. This change has caused some confusion. At one point the top-of-page search bar would automatically search within a store, but no longer. In order to stay in one store, you need to use the in-store search bar which is located beneath the featured listings.

When we search eBay for specific items, we find it best to search by year. For example, we might search for a vinyl album by the year in which it was released, then the band name, then album name. We call this the [Year, Band, Details] format. For example:

1968 Beatles White Album

By starting with numbers, you eliminate a great deal of scrolling and help Cassini (eBay’s search engine) narrow down your results, and categorize all the listings on eBay.

So if you are looking for a coin pendant from Ireland with a rabbit on it, search with the [Year, Country, Details] format.

1968 Irish Rabbit Coin Pendant

and you will find this:

On Etsy, in the Pendant and Ring Jewelry Store, and the Pendant and Ring Coin Store, the search bar is in the left, side-bar. Like eBay, we must use the in-store search bar on Etsy to stay within a single store. However, Etsy search is more like Google search, and luckily, we are all a little more familiar with the way Google search works.

As with Google, on Etsy, the more words you use, the more likely you are going to find what you are looking for. So, looking for the Beatles album, use these detailed words in the main search bar at the top of any Etsy page:

Beatles White Album LP vinyl

The trick with Etsy is to use plenty of details in your search. In the example above, it was important to include the word vinyl because we were not searching for a t-shirt with the White Album printed on it, or a 1:12 replica for a dollhouse, or a clock made to look like the album cover.

When looking for an Irish coin pendant, use as many descriptive words as you would like, for example:

heart shaped silver Irish coin pendant and chain

and you will find this:
