The Walking Liberty coin was designed and engraved by A.A. Weinman. His iconic design was popular with the people and ran from 1916 to 1947.
Lady Liberty is walking to the left on the obverse of the coin with her right hand outstretched in a beckoning posture. She wears her traditional Greek-revival attire with sandals and is wrapped in the US Flag. She carries laurel and oak branches in her left hand, that symbolize civil and military glory.
On the reverse the heraldic eagle stands alert on a Mountain Pine sapling, expressing the long lasting history of the Mountain Pine and the youthful future of the sapling.
The 1946 Walking Liberty coins were minted on 90% silver and 10% copper blanks. They have a diameter of 30.66mm and weigh 12.5 grams.
